Your emotions show you how you feel.

What you say to people and the words you use can change the way they are feeling too.   If you say something mean to someone they may become sad or angry or you might make them feel not good enough.

When you say things to yourself you change your feelings about yourself too.   If you tell yourself you are not good enough you are going to feel not good enough.   If you tell yourself you are silly for doing something you are going to believe that you are silly.

But you can always look at this differently.   You can tell yourself you are a great kid who just made a silly choice.   Or you can tell yourself this time you did something that was not perfect or good enough but the next time you can do it better.   No matter what anyone else tells you, you are good enough the way you are.

It is important to remember that we are all different, each and every one of us.   If you try hard enough I am sure you can be good at most things but usually people pick one or two things that they enjoy doing and do those. For example you may prefer to play music than play sports. You may be able to play football but choose not to. That is just fine!

You may be able to play musical instruments but prefer to play sports.   That is just fine too!   It is nice to try out new things and discover which you prefer to do. Usually when you enjoy something you do it better.

There will always be times that you will have to do something you would prefer not to do.   Maybe you have to play in the school band and you don’t enjoy music.   Rather than fighting against it you will probably find it better to just do your best at it.   You might even enjoy it!   Sometimes you just need to look at things differently.   How you feel when you do something will change the way you do it.   So you may as well feel happy and enjoy it.

You can also imagine yourself like a tree standing on the ground if you like.   Can you feel your feet on the ground standing tall and feeling powerful like a warrior?   Just like a tree needs certain things to grow like sunshine, rain and support you too will find it easier to do things when you have the help of family, friends and teachers who are there to help you.

Never be afraid to ask for help, we all need to at times.
