Acceptance

People can sometimes tell you to accept things the way they are and not to look for something else.   This can be hard to do at times.   Sometimes things are the way they are and you cannot change them no matter how sad you feel or how mad this might make you feel!!!!!

Make sure you tell someone how you feel like a parent, a relation or a teacher. They may be able to explain something to you that will make you feel better.   It is good when that happens.

It is never ok to accept something that is making you feel bad.   If someone is calling you names, or doing something to you that is making you feel sad then this is something you do not have to accept. It is good to talk to someone and let them know.

Learning to accept yourself the way you are, no matter how you “think” you are is one of the nicest things you can do for yourself.

You can learn how to do something called tapping. Take a look at the picture of the teddy and the picture of the alien.   See which one you prefer.   They are showing you where you can “tap”.

You can always change the words and say something like this.

Even though I do not like the way things are right now I accept that I am a great kid.

Even though I do not like the way things are right now I can see that things could get better if I look at them differently.

I am going to try harder to accept things the way they are and I am a great kid.
